Great advice Derek. You ought to check out talentwatch net. Especially as an advocate for music artists.

    Derek,
This is a last resort to contact you. What is going on with cdbaby???!!!? Since the new website it’s been a free fall downhill. Waiting 2 months to get a new cd page up, no customer service. All of a sudden nobody there is doing their job! cdbaby used to be an amazing asset to the music community. Now it’s a total fraud! We loved and trusted you man and you let us down.

Jack Johnson is excellent if you’re a fan of mediocrity.

Fuck the fans. Be a musician for yourself.

cdbaby is joke ! their sound samples are pure trash – I feel sorry for artists that sell through them

  6. BDyckns says:

I think most of the successful artists on CD Baby are upper middle class or rich and have the bucks to promote and get the best equipment and recoding studio time or their own studio…Oh..And where was that “test” when we finally had an emergency on 9/11? Never heard the loud squeal and never directed where ti tune in. Mum called me and said turn the TV on there’s been a disaster. No brrrp sound. And after a lifetime of hearing it, waiting, wondering, it never sounded during an attack on USA

I felt the same lately. Very stressed and worried about a project of mine (mastering issues with the mastering house and indie promotion of my music) … but I thought yesterday : hey, what the hell, if this thing doesn’t come up right ,as I wished it , that’s it. I’ll try somewhere else at some other time (let it go it’s NOT an option!). So as long as we’re living and taking care of our health FIRST of all , things will come better with orher plans too! and today I find this video. Very nice

thanks for the advice derek. this is good motivation to get me off my ass do something productive

  9. viciousattackvideo says:

so true! I feel like over time I’ve gotten so stressed out and worried over every detail. And it’s wrong! Doing something and just going for it and trying it is better than waiting and endlessly planning for the right moment.

This is some of the wisest/deepest advice for us indie artists. It was such liberation to listen to it!!!
